All-Star Matthew Tkachuk tells Flames he won't re-sign long-term

As reported on Tuesday , Calgary Flames All-Star Matthew Tkachuk could be on the move any day now. The latest word from Jeremy Rutherford and Hailey Salvian of The Athletic on Wednesday only seems to further support an imminent trade.

Last week, the Flames saw leading point-getter Johnny Gaudreau sign a seven-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tkachuk finished the 2021-22 season tied with Elias Lindholm for first on the team in goals (42), second in assists (62) and points (104) and third in plus-minus (57).

Here are some of the reported details of how talks between Calgary and the 24-year-old have gone down.

The Flames selected Tkachuk with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. According to The Athletic, he has given Calgary a list of teams with whom he would agree to a long-term contract and according to a source of The Athletic, the teams include the St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and Dallas Stars.
