Afanasyev, Jankowski Bring Confidence, Chemistry to Predators Lineup Tonight
USA TODAY Sports

On Monday the Nashville Predators recalled forwards Egor Afanasyev and Mark Jankowski from Milwaukee. Tonight the two will take the ice at Bridgestone Arena as the Predators host the New Jersey Devils.

Head coach Andrew Brunette talked about the growth he's seen in Afanasyev's game from training camp to now.

"He just looks a little more confident and sure of himself," Brunette said. "Obviously he's having a great year down there. He deserves the opportunity."

Afanasyev leads the Admirals in goals this season. His 21 goals in 42 games ranks him fifth in the AHL in goals and sixth in the league in points.

Jankowski has been equally as impressive. In his 40 games with Milwaukee, the Hamilton, Ontario native has recorded 47 points, good for third best in the AHL.

The two have played most of this season in Milwaukee on a line together with Zachary L'Heureux and have been major contributors to the Admirals historic 14 game win streak. It isn't just their five on five play that has earned them time in Nashville. Both play on the power play and penalty kill. Afanasyev has four power play goals this season while the two have combined for seven shorthanded goals.

Brunette hopes their confidence and chemistry translate easily to the NHL tonight as the Predators welcome the New Jersey Devils to Bridgestone Arena.
