WR Cole Beasley retires two weeks after signing with Buccaneers

Cole Beasley may have been wanting to play with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for a " long time," but when he finally did, it lasted all of a couple of weeks.

Much to the chagrin of Brady's former longtime teammate Julian Edelman, the Bucs signed Beasley to their practice squad (and ultimately active roster) in late September. The slot receiver played in both of Tampa Bay's last two games (their first two losses of the season), but he only made four catches for 17 yards on five targets and was on the field for just 13 offensive snaps.

Undrafted out of SMU, Beasley spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, recording 319 receptions for 3,271 yards and 23 touchdowns across 103 regular season games. The 33-year-old signed with the Buffalo Bills in March 2019 and played the last three years in western New York, posting a career-high six touchdown receptions in 2019, career-high 967 receiving yards in 2020 and back-to-back 82-catch campaigns in 2020 and 2021, which were the most of his career as well.

Beasley was released by the Bills in March 2022.
