It wasn’t a Christmas miracle but it was certainly a bit of a surprise. Mason Crosby, who was out of football for almost a year, split the uprights with ease from 52 yards out in the NY Giants 33-25 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The former Colorado legend has been searching for a new NFL home ever since the Green Bay Packers decided to replace the team’s all-time leading scorer with rookie Andres Carlson in August.

Like Coach Prime, Mason made sure everyone knew this Buff wasn’t hard to find.

Maybe it’s a coincidence or not, but Crosby decided to wear No. 21 for this stint with the Giants. It was slightly confusing for some watching at home. The explanation for taking Tiki Barbers' number was the lack of availability late in the season. However, it also has shades of Prime.

Crosby entered the game with 1,918 career points, which puts him eleventh on the NFL all-time scoring list, but stands just 139 points outside of the top five.

It’s only fitting that a kicker who is known for making field goals in all types of weather conditions, in both Boulder and Green Bay, would finally get the call in December. Let’s see if this short term audition in New York leads to a full-time gig in 2024.

It was a great effort by the Giants on the road, but they move to 5-10 on the season. A big market matchup comes next on Crosby's return tour. The Los Angeles Rams come to the Meadowlands on New Years Eve (1 p.m. ET/TV:FOX).
