Watch: Jaun Jennings Makes Crucial Play in NFC Title Game
USA TODAY Sports

While they're on to Super Bowl preparation now, the San Francisco 49ers had their backs against a wall on Sunday evening. The Detroit Lions went up three scores early in the NFC Championship Game, and it looked like the No. 1 seed in the NFC would be going down before the big game. However, they knew where to go when they needed big plays, which was the difference.

They got a big contribution from former Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings. He only had one grab on the afternoon for eight yards, but it came in a crucial spot. Early in the third quarter, San Francisco faced a 3rd & 4 from Detroit's 35-yard line and trailed by 17 points. Quarterback Brock Purdy found Jennings over the middle of the field for a miraculous one-handed catch. That play extended the drive, which resulted in a field goal.

That field goal cut the lead to two scores and spurred San Francisco to a historic come-from-behind victory. Jennings had the worst statistical season of his three-year stint, still producing with 19 catches for 265 yards, but he's now on to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career.
