Watch: D’Andre Swift scores TD on fake ‘tush push’ play

On a third-and-2 with 1:53 to go in the fourth quarter and leading 31-24, the Philadelphia Eagles turned to old reliable — or so it seemed.

Lined up in formation to run what looked to be the “tush push,” the Eagles fooled everyone, including the Washington Commanders defense, as quarterback Jalen Hurts turned around and handed the ball to running back D’Andre Swift, who ran it in for the 7-yard touchdown.

The play ultimately served as the game winner as Washington added a 26-yard touchdown on the ensuing drive but failed to recover an onside kick before Philly ran out the clock to preserve the win.

It was the only touchdown of the game for Swift, who’s rushed for 50 or more yards in six of eight games this year.

Given the Eagles’ success using the “tush push,” many were expecting them to turn to the play again given the short-yardage situation with the game on the line. The Commanders stopped the play earlier in the game, causing a Hurts fumble on the goal line and recovering it at the 1-yard line.
