Watch: Aidan Hutchinson sack stalls Packers drive

Lions second-year edge-rusher Aidan Hutchinson came up with a massive early sack on Packers quarterback Jordan Love, which stopped a promising Green Bay drive that began in Detroit territory.

The Packers had the ball at the Lions 16-yard line after Rudy Ford intercepted Jared Goff. Hutchinson's sack on second down effectively ended Green Bay's drive. Love completed a harmless nine-yard pass on third-and-19 as Green Bay settled for a field goal.

Hutchinson was selected second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and is one of several positive additions Detroit made through the draft in recent years.

Per data from Pro Football Focus, Hutchinson is first in the league in total pressures (21). The Lions also drafted tackle Penei Sewell seventh overall in 2021. He made his first Pro Bowl last season. Amon-Ra St. Brown, the team's fourth-round pick in the same draft, is Goff's most reliable target and scored the first touchdown on Thursday.

Detroit seemingly added to its impressive core during the 2023 draft with early contributors in running back Jahmyr Gibbs, linebacker Jack Campbell, safety Brian Branch and tight end Sam LaPorta.

The Lions are the favorite in the NFC North; a big reason for that is the contributions of their homegrown talent.

Of all the hits Detroit has in recent drafts, Hutchinson might be the best.
