Washington Commanders could be trying to steal another one of their biggest rival's key players

Unsurprisingly, new Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has already recruited two former Dallas Cowboys to play for him in center Tyler Biadsz and Dorance Armstrong. The familiarity between the three -along with the fact they're good players- should bode well for their futures in Washington.

And another former Cowboy could be joining them.

Per ESPN's John Keim, the Commanders appear to be interested in cornerback Jourdan Lewis, who can play both on the perimeter and in the slot. That would be a logical move for new defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr., who is trying to improve the NFL's worst-ranked secondary from a season ago.

Lewis just hasn't been a consistent player over the last few seasons

This would be a move for depth purposes, I'd imagine. Lewis isn't a very good player, at the end of the day. He's allowed 10 touchdowns and has just five interceptions over the last four seasons and quarterbacks have completed 67.9% of their passes, while averaging a 96.5 QB rating against Lewis over the course of his career.

At the same time, the Cowboys would get a veteran player who knows the system and could help expedite his new teammates' learning curve, while adding competition.

As long as the deal isn't illogical in terms of price, which it shouldn't be, Lewis is a signing that does make sense, when it's all said and done. The hope would be the Commanders don't have to lean on him too much in 2024, though.
