Washington Commanders: Chances to Win Big-Time NFL Coach Revealed
Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

As teams begin finalizing their head coaches for 2024, the Washington Commanders are yet to announce who will take over as their shot caller from the sidelines.

With the Commanders yet to decide on their 2024 head coach, some are believing they’re waiting for a big-name head coach to give them the time of day and consider rebuilding the team.

Will Bill Belichick coach the Washington Commanders?

Commander Country writer David Harrison writes about the latest name thrown into the Washington Commanders sweepstakes: Bill Belichick.

Up & Adams host Kay Adams strongly believes that the former New England Patriots coach is the man the organization has been waiting for:

“I think (other candidates are) in a different bucket than Bill Belichick, I just do,” Adams told Commander Country on the Locked On Commanders podcast when discussing the current situation unfolding around the search. “I can’t imagine the reason the Commanders would not want to go after Bill unless: Is he not interested in them? I can’t imagine that, even just the history of the team, the city, like that seems alluring to coach Belichick. I don’t know. It is bewildering to me that he does not have a job…When you are a team wanting to build, wanting to sell seats, bringing in the sort of stability that you know can happen with Bill Belichick seems like something that might be really intriguing for them on both sides.”

The prospect of Belichick helming the rebuild of the Commanders is an interesting idea. There’s no pressure for Bill to make a Super Bowl run because the team hasn’t been relevant for the longest time.  With almost nobody on the roster untouchable, he can quickly transform the roster into the team of his dreams through the draft, free agency, and trades.

The question lies on whether Belichick wants to take on the job. Should he get the post, he’ll be up against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles twice a year. After Belichick’s fumbles with a post-Brady Patriots, he might not have what it takes to build an NFL team the same way he did before.

Until the Washington Commanders decide on a signing, the possibility is still open for one of the league’s best coaches.
