Vikings' Kirk Cousins a potential star of Netflix docuseries

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins could soon become a fan favorite among some NFL viewers. 

It was recently learned that Cousins, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, and Marcus Mariota (currently) of the Atlanta Falcons will be featured in an upcoming Netflix docuseries entitled "Quarterback." 

NFL Films executive producer Keith Cossrow suggested to NBC Sports' Peter King that Cousins, an alleged "open book" for the project's crew, could be one of the documentary's stars. 

"I think it’s the best access we’ve gotten with a player in [NFL Films] history," Cossrow explained. "The first episode in the series will end with an incredible moment." 

In Week 3 of the 2022 NFL season, the Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions at home 28-24. However, Cousins was guilty of what Cossrow described as "a significant overthrow on what would have been a" touchdown during the victory. 

"So after the game, he lets the crew go home with him to his big family gathering, and there’s a firepit in the backyard, and the kids are eating ‘smores," Cossrow continued about Cousins. "Everyone leaves, and it’s kind of dark, and Kirk’s there, and he’s beating himself up over the overthrow. Captured beautifully. That was the first cue, to me, that we’re going to get what we’re after here." 

Cousins' campaign was a roller coaster ride filled with ups that included the 34-year-old guiding Minnesota to a 13-4 record and the signal-caller hilariously wearing multiple chains while shirtless on the team plane after wins. The season also ended with a massive letdown for the Vikings after Cousins was responsible for a questionable fourth-down decision late in the home playoff loss to the New York Giants on Jan. 15. 

Cousins is on track to remain Minnesota's QB1 through the offseason amid takes that the franchise needs an upgrade at the sport's most important position if it truly wants to compete with top-tier NFC clubs such as the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles. It sounds like he could have a future as a television personality assuming Cossrow isn't overhyping a Netflix show that could be unlike any other.
