USC Football: Trojans Offer Under The Rader Defensive End Christian Gass
USA TODAY Sports

Eastside High School (Covington, GA) edge prospect Christian Gass took to Twitter to announce his first power-five offer, courtesy of USC. Outside linebackers coach Roy Manning was the man who put in the call to Gass. Gass followed this tweet with two more announcing that Georgia and Tennessee have now also entered the mix, extending offers to him. Before this influx, Gass's offer list consisted of Appalachian State, Marshal, and Eskrine.

Gass measures up at 6'3", ~210 pounds and just released his junior season Hudl film in late November, which could point toward the timing of these offers. Gass played his junior season as both an edge defender and an off-ball outside linebacker. He was named to the Georgia AAAAA Region 8 All-Region Defensive Team.

Per the nature of recruiting, Trojan fans should expect plenty of more power-five teams to join the race for Gass. Typically when one power-five school offers, there tends to be a lot of others to follow suit. Gass has great size, plenty of athleticism, and passes the eye test with flying colors. Those factors, along with his ability to cover as well as rush the passer equate to exciting potential.

USC currently has zero commits for its 2025 class, but they've been hot on the trail as of late. With the new Trojan defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn in place, USC will look to build some momentum not only in the 2024 class as this cycle closes out here in the next couple of months, but also jump-start their 2025 recruiting class. Also worth considering is that one thing that D'Anton Lynn will be looking for in his defensive players is versatility, which Gass has.
