USC Football: Trojans Offer 2025 Athlete Nick Townsend
USA TODAY Sports

Dekaney (Houston, TX) athlete Nick Townsend took to Twitter to announce a scholarship offer from USC extended his way courtesy of outside linebackers coach Roy Manning. Some schools are recruiting Townsend as a tight end, while others see him as an edge defender. If you look at his highlight tape, it's easy to see potential for both positions.

Measuring up at 6'3", ~220 pounds, Townsend is fielding offers from a ton of bluechip programs including Texas, Ole Miss, Washington State, Nebraska, and Arizona State to name a few of many. The two-way star has yet to come out with a top-schools list.

247Sports lists Townsend as a four-star prospect and considers him the 17th best prospect in Texas in the 2025 class as well as the 123rd best prospect in the 2025 class, nationally.

Townsend still has another year to play at Dekaney High School, so the list of schools that offer him will surely grow, especially given his production at the tight end position during his junior season. He caught 18 passes for a mind-boggling 431 yards and seven touchdowns. That is an average of nearly 24 yards per reception.

And he did that as a two-way starter. Also worth mentioning is that Townsend line dup everywhere along the defensive front. He has plays on his junior highlight tape where he lined up at middle linebacker, at edge, but also at defensive tackle playing head-up on the offensive guards. This type of versatility is highly coveted by new USC defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn.

USC would do well to make a strong push for Townsend.
