Tim Tebow worked out as tight end with Jaguars

Former quarterback Tim Tebow won the Heisman Trophy starting under coach Urban Meyer with the Florida Gators, is widely perceived as one of the greatest players in the history of college football and was a first-round draft pick back in 2010. The 33-year-old hasn't played in an NFL regular-season game since 2012 and recently called time on a pro baseball career after a failed minor-league stint, but he isn't letting those facts end his dream of competing against top-tier athletes.

Seemingly out of nowhere and nearly five hours before the opening of the 2021 NFL Draft, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport tweeted that Tebow has worked out with the Jacksonville Jaguars, now coached by Meyer, as a tight end.

Understandably, the news was met with sarcasm and snark by fans and analysts, alike.

As Charean Williams noted for Pro Football Talk, Tebow was most recently coveted by the defunct Alliance of American Football and the on-hiatus XFL but never pursued opportunities with those organizations or the Canadian Football League. If nothing else, he could speak with to-be Jacksonville rookie sensation Trevor Lawrence about what it feels like to reach NFL highs, such as winning a playoff game, and enduring the low that is being rejected by the New York Jets in the first half of the 2010s.
