Free-agent offensive lineman Taylor Lewan has a bold personality, so when he makes NFL predictions in-season, it should come as no surprise they’re equally as bold.
During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” on Monday, Lewan predicted that the San Francisco 49ers could make history this year.
“I’m riding the Niners until they lose,” Lewan stated. “And then I’ll come on this show and be like, ‘Kay, we finally lost. Thank God, I can start to think logically.’ But I think the Niners, right now in my mind, are going 17-0.”
The 49ers are one of the more complete teams in the NFL. They have the No. 2-ranked offense, the No. 3 scoring offense, the No. 5-ranked defense and the No. 3 scoring defense.
Following a 35-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, San Francisco is one of just two teams — along with the Philadelphia Eagles — without a loss this season. San Francisco faces its toughest test of the season Sunday at Levi’s Stadium against the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys.
Aside from the Cowboys, the 49ers only face five teams in their last 12 games that have winning records.
49ers have a real shot at going 17-0 in the regular season.

These are the toughest games left on their schedule:
Cowboys at home
Browns in Cle
Bengals at home
Eagles in Philly
Ravens at home
Only four teams in NFL history have made it through the regular season with perfect records: The 1934 Chicago Bears (13-0), the 1942 Chicago Bears (11-0), the 1972 Miami Dolphins (14-0) and the 2007 New England Patriots (16-0). All but the Dolphins lost in their respective championship games.
Per tradition, that ‘72 Dolphins team — the only team in league history with an undefeated season, including the postseason — pops a bottle of champagne every year when the NFL’s final undefeated team suffers its first loss. If Lewan is right, they’ll have a really long wait ahead of them this year.
