Three HBCU Football Alums On The Kansas City Chiefs And San Francisco 49ers At Super Bowl LVIII

HOUSTON - During Super Bowl LVIII, HBCU talent will be on full display for a second straight year. Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Joshua Williams (Fayetteville State) and San Francisco's eight-year veteran defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (South Carolina State) will battle as they did in Super Bowl LVII.

Williams got to hold the Lombardi Trophy, and Hargrave's Eagles teammates went home without the win.

JOSHUA WILLIAMS

Joshua Williams was the first HBCU player drafted in years after the Chiefs landed him in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. During Kansas City's Super Bowl campaign, he made critical plays as a rookie to get into Super Bowl LVII.

JAVON HARGRAVE

Javon Hargrave is the elder statesman of the trio after the Pittsburgh Steelers launched his career out of South Carolina State as the 89th draft pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He's had stints with the Steelers and Eagles and is currently with the 49ers.

BRYAN COOK

Chiefs safety Bryan Cook (Howard University) spent two seasons with the Bison before transferring to the Cincinnati Bearcats. Kansas City selected him as the 62nd overall draft pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Cook was placed on injured reserve following an ankle injury in the Green Bay Packers game on Dec. 3 and will not play in Super Bowl LVIII.

Today's game will be between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes will go against Brock Purdy for the Lombardi Trophy. Will Williams and Cook get hardware, or is it Hargrave's time to finally get sized for a Super Bowl ring?
