Three free agents Cleveland Browns should target

NFL free agency is just around the corner as the new league year begins next week on March 13 at 4 p.m. ET.

The Cleveland Browns don't have a ton of cap space with $17 million in funds, but it should be enough for them to make some moves.

Here are three free agents Cleveland should target.

Quarterback Joe Flacco

Flacco was the savior of the Browns' 2023 season, passing for 1,616 yards and 13 touchdowns while leading them to the playoffs. A healthy Deshaun Watson is expected to return to the starting lineup in 2024, but Cleveland must have a contingency plan for him.

Watson has played in just 12 games the past two seasons, and he hasn't played great when he has been on the field, throwing just 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Flacco, who is 39, is widely respected after being named the 2023 NFL Comeback Player of the Year and would likely be interested in returning on a cheap deal.

Wide receiver Marquise Brown

The Browns didn't have a wide receiver eclipse 650 receiving yards in 2023 outside of Amari Cooper (1,250 yards). Their second-leading receiver behind Cooper was tight end David Njoku (882 yards).

Cleveland must find a more reliable No. 2 wide receiver to complement Cooper and that could be Brown, who is a former 1,000-yard receiver.

The 26-year-old has battled some injuries the past couple of seasons, but he should come at a lower price as a result.

Linebacker Devin White

Starting linebackers Anthony Walker Jr. and Sione Takitaki are also slated to hit the open market next week. The Browns may opt to keep their own, but if they're looking for a fresh start at the position, White is an intriguing option.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft had a bit of a "down year," posting 83 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and six passes defensed last season with the Buccaneers.

He is expected to receive a two-year, $21.5 million contract, according to Spotrac. Taking a one- or two-year flyer on White, who is still only 26, makes a lot of sense.
