The Packers should send Jordan Love to Seattle

Aaron Rodgers will continue to be the Packers starting quarterback until he retires, which, based on his new contract that he signed this offseason, likely won't be for at least another two or three years. Also, the back-to-back MVP is showing no signs of slowing down despite coming close to the age of 40.

The Green Bay Packers do not have a rebuilding roster. They are ready to win right now like they always have been with Rodgers at the helm. That is why they need to trade Jordan Love. Not only should they trade the former first-round pick, but they should trade him in an effort to get a significant player. A team like the Seattle Seahawks could be a great trade partner.

Seattle is a good trade partner for Green Bay because their quarterback situation is a bit of a question mark. There has been no decision on if Drew Lock or Geno Smith will be the starter. After the departure of Russell Wilson, the team is searching for a new franchise quarterback. Jordan Love still needs a lot more experience, but he has has all potential. He did go into Arrowhead Stadium last season and outplay Patrick Mahomes in a losing effort. Learning from Aaron Rodgers each of the last two years certainly helps too. If given more reps, Love can be a successful starting quarterback.

Green Bay could send Love and mid-round pick to the Seahawks for a veteran like Tyler Lockett. Seattle is moving on from two of its best players in franchise history in Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner. Tyler Lockett is another franchise legend who will turn 30 this season. The Green Bay Packers could be looking to add more receiver help for an offense that lost both All-Pro Davante Adams and speedster Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Lockett is a former All-Pro returner and Pro Bowl receiver. Green Bay could really benefit from his experience and talent.

Both sides have something the other team covets. Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and Seahawks GM John Schneider are good friends. Schneider worked in Green Bay for 12 seasons in multiple front-office roles while Gutekunst was there in his earlier years. Sending Love to Seattle would allow the Seahawks to grab their quarterback of the future while also allowing Green Bay to let Rodgers breathe in the quarterback room and add a win-now piece in Lockett.
