Texans placing LB Kevin Pierre-Louis on injured reserve with hamstring injury

The Houston Texans will be without one of their linebackers for at least three weeks.

Kevin Pierre-Louis is being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, according to Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790.

Pierre-Louis missed two days of practice last week and didn't play in Houston's season-opening win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He also did not practice on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Texans in March after spending the 2020 season with the Washington Football Team. In 13 games last season, he recorded one sack, one forced fumble, two passes defended, 56 tackles, three tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits.

The Seattle Seahawks selected Pierre-Louis in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He spent three seasons with the franchise before joining the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2017 season. He has also played for the New York Jets and Chicago Bears.

Kamu Grugier-Hill and Garret Wallow should see more playing time in Pierre-Louis' absence.

Houston will take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 2 this weekend before facing the Carolina Panthers in Week 3.
