Tampa Bay Buccaneers to wear iconic Creamsicle uniforms for Lions game

The team released a video this summer narrated by Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks to show the world the throwback uniforms that are a nod to the ones worn in the 70s through the 90s.

Brooks, who wore the Buccaneers uniform for all 14 years of his NFL career, was one of the last players to wear the creamsicle uniform before they discontinued it.

The former linebacker won a Super Bowl, earned the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, the NFL defensive MVP award and 11 Pro Bowl nominations while with Tampa Bay. He was an obvious choice for the team for their big unveiling moment.

Tampa Bay is on a roll under the leadership of quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Thanks to the bye week, Mayfield was able to appear as the guest picker on College Gameday. The new Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, with his team at 3-1, has come a long way since his ousting from Cleveland.

The former first-overall draft pick joked with Pat McAfee on Friday that he’s still confused by the “rollercoaster” of the last few years with the Browns, Panthers and Rams.

“I think I’m still confused too,” Mayfield said. “Towards the end there, I played 2021 with pretty much a torn-apart shoulder. I was excited to get the surgery, get healthy, and get another shot to get back to 2020 form. But that wasn’t their plan. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.”

“Now, the rollercoaster I went on after that was a little nuts for me,” Mayfield continued. “It gave me good perspective. Being in Carolina, trying to be a good mentor to couple guys, different perspective on it, be a good leader, going to LA, looking at each other, we had a five-game season, let’s make the most of it and pad the resume.”
