Super Bowl King of Props: Spreading the wealth

As the premier betting event in all of sports, the Super Bowl has been attracting gamblers to Las Vegas for more than a half-century. But this 58th edition holds special significance because the city is hosting the game for the first time.

Home to the “Black Hole” when the Raiders are playing, Allegiant Stadium will be awash in the other color on the roulette wheel for this championship rematch between Kansas City and San Francisco. The 2020 meeting featured the Chiefs overcoming a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to earn a 31-20 victory. Having now claimed a fourth AFC crown in the last five years, they’re looking to take down the 49ers again — but this time as slight underdogs.

The King of Props has likewise been enjoying a run of success, winning both bets on the conference title games and five of his last six overall. In the run-up to the Super Bowl, he provides his favorite investment opportunities right here on Yardbarker.

Bet No. 6: Over 7½ players on the Chiefs to record a reception (FanDuel)

When Kansas City was beaten by Detroit in the season opener, Patrick Mahomes completed passes to 11 different receivers. That number would’ve been 12 if Skyy Moore had secured any of the three throws he saw. The team was also without its primary target, tight end Travis Kelce, who was sidelined by a knee bruise.

The Chiefs went on to lose five other games, and they had at least eight pass-catchers in every one of them. This contest may require them to play from behind once again, but at least they’ll have a full complement of weapons.

Moore and fellow wideout Kadarius Toney both missed the previous two playoff games with injuries but are expected to be available. Their activation could come at the expense of title-game veteran Mecole Hardman and preseason star Justyn Ross, who combined for just five snaps in the AFC Championship. In addition to starters Rashee Rice, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Justin Watson, Kansas City’s deep receiver group features return man Richie James.

Other players highly likely to record a reception include running backs Isiah Pacheco, Jerick McKinnon (if active) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, as well as second tight end Noah Gray. With a plethora of options at his disposal, Mahomes figures to flirt with double digits in his ball distribution.
