Super agent argues Colts should trade for Ravens' Lamar Jackson

Big-name NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus believes he has a scenario that could benefit the Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts and star quarterback Lamar Jackson.

As shared by Reice Shipley of The Comeback, Rosenhaus said during a Wednesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he thinks the Colts should make a serious move to land Jackson's services.

"You have the Indianapolis Colts out there who have a new head coach in Shane Steichen, who was the offensive coordinator for the (Philadelphia Eagles)," Rosenhaus explained. "They need a quarterback. You have Chris Ballard, who is a great (general manager) and you have an owner in Jim Irsay. Say what you will about him, but Irsay wants to win. If I’m Ballard, who has made moves for Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan, let’s make it happen for Lamar Jackson. My opinion is the Colts should give up the No. 4 (draft) pick (this year) and their (first-round choice) next year for Lamar Jackson."

While Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta hinted on Wednesday he could select a replacement for Jackson in the upcoming NFL Draft, there nevertheless are multiple issues as it pertains to Rosenhaus' idea. For starters, it was reported earlier in the day that Irsay prefers for the Colts to find their "next quarterback in the draft" so they can capitalize "on the financial flexibility a young quarterback’s contract affords the team."

The Ravens held onto Jackson's rights via the non-exclusive franchise tag, meaning they can match any offer he accepts. Additionally, there is currently no reason to think the Colts would give Jackson anything close to the type of deal he wants. The one-time NFL Most Valuable Player is allegedly looking for an agreement similar to the fully guaranteed five-year, $230M contract Cleveland Browns starter Deshaun Watson signed in 2022.

There is one other interesting theory. Jackson has been negotiating with the Ravens without the help of an agent certified by the NFL Players Association, and it's possible Rosenhaus was unofficially offering his services to the 26-year-old.
