Steelers Taking Flyer On Familiar Face Absolutely Possible After Recent Happenings In Dallas
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers added to the receiving core once again on Wednesday after it was reported that veteran wideout Scotty Miller is going to sign a one-year deal with the franchise. The move is a head-scratcher considering the fact that is seems like the organization is attempting to bring in a bunch of number four and five wide receivers just to see who sticks out. That's not necessarily a great strategy, but the team's back is against the wall after failing to land a formidable pass-catcher to play opposite of George Pickens earlier in the offseason. It's an extremely shaky part of the roster as it stands.

Along with Pickens and Miller, the most prominent names are rookie Roman Wilson, Calvin Austin III, Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins. News broke shortly after the Miller report that the Dallas Cowboys would be moving on from former Steeler, Martavis Bryant.

It's hard to believe that the Steelers aren't part of that group that Tom Pelissero mentioned in his post on X. Pittsburgh loves familiarity and while Bryant hasn't been around for a quite a while, he has the physical tools to dominate opposing defenders, even at the age of 32. He's not a long-term solution for anyone, but could be a secret weapon if used properly. He didn't record a catch for Dallas in 2023.

Bryant had his best career seasons with the Steelers before being suspended several different times for violating the league's substance abuse policy. With Ben Roethlisberger as his quarterback, he hauled in 14 touchdowns in his first two seasons. Many thought he was on track to being a star before the suspensions started to roll in.

He has had a long road back to the NFL and no one is quite sure what his future may hold. Per Pelissero, however, there are organizations that have some interest in finding some of the gas that he has left in the tank. Pittsburgh's approach has been signing a plethora of guys who fit better as a slot receiver. Bryant is the exact opposite and belongs on the outside. He has been training dating back to the summer of 2023 for his comeback.

The addition of Bryant wouldn't solve the Steelers' issues at wideout, but would surely bring a new physical presence to the room. He won't be someone General Manager Omar Khan brings in on more than a one-year deal, but would definitely give teams something to think about, specifically in the red zone.

Steelers Need Another Physical Presence In Wide Receivers Room

Time will tell if Bryant is a fit to come back to Pittsburgh or not, but regardless, the organization needs to make some kind of move to fortify the position. Pickens is currently the only definitive guy who can play consistently on the outside. Not much is known about the rookie in Wilson, but don't count out a reunion in Pittsburgh when it comes to Bryant.

Would you be open to the Steelers signing Bryant and bringing him back?
