Steelers Invite Villanova WR Rayjuon Pringle to Rookie Minicamp
Danny Wild-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers are inviting Villanova wide receiver Rayjuon Pringle to their rookie minicamp next week, the school announced. A 5-foot-8, 182-pound receiver, Pringle ran a 4.57 40-yard dash at his pro day while pairing that with a 30.5-inch vertical. Overall, Pringle went undrafted, largely due to his size and average athleticism on the testing sheet.

But he was an All-CAA First-Team Selection in 2023, catching 40 passes for 984 yards and eight touchdowns. Those were all career bests. Over his career, Pringle amassed 97 receptions for 1834 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. As part of the 2019 class, Pringle was a graduate student and will come out as a 24-year-old rookie.

One boon for Pringle over some others is that he is versatile in special teams. He worked on coverage units and has punt and kick return units. Any way that those guys can try to crack the lineup is important, and Pringle has the versatility to push for a roster spot due to those skills.

The Villanova website describes Pringle as a “dynamic performer with big play capabilities…good route runner with outstanding hands”. With 40 receptions for nearly 1000 yards, that big play ability clearly shows itself to be true, averaging a whopping 24.6 yards per catch in his senior campaign.

Rookie minicamp is always the next step in the process for the Steelers Over a few days in early May, the Steelers will host players to compete for open roster spots.

In addition to tryouts, first-year players and drafted and undrafted rookies can participate. Last year, the Steelers signed running back Alfonzo Graham from Morgan State and outside linebacker Toby Ndukwe from Sam Houston State out of their rookie minicamp tryout class.
