Second 49ers linebacker undergoes offseason surgery
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

Two San Francisco 49ers linebackers have now had surgery in the wake of Super Bowl 58.

After Dre Greenlaw underwent successful surgery on the Achilles he tore running onto the field in the second quarter of the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the man who replaced him confirmed he also had an operation on an injury.

Oren Burks posted on his Instagram story that he had undergone surgery on his wrist.

Burks will become a free agent when the new league year begins, but it remains to be seen if the 49ers will have an interest in keeping him.

The 49ers' starter at SAM linebacker on base downs in 2023, Burks shifted into Greenlaw's WILL linebacker role following his teammate's bizarre injury.

However, he was picked on in coverage by the Chiefs, giving up nine catches on nine targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in the 25-22 overtime defeat.
