Scott Pioli is taking heat for praising a member of the New York Jets management team.
With him being a former New England Patriots VP, the Patriots fan base feels Pioli is losing his way.
However, he’s clearly giving respect and praise where it’s needed for the success of the Jets this season.
So who is the Jets’ person responsible for the team’s success, according to Pioli?
While on Good Morning Football, Pioli revealed how Joe Douglas is the biggest person behind the success of the Jets.
No, #Pats fans I haven't lost my way.
Yes, I have MAD respect for Joe Douglas & they way he does his job. There's a lot of connective tissue & shared family beliefs. His mentor Ozzie Newsome gave him a 'family' education and Joe is executing.#JetsNation @nyjets #nyj #NFL #GMFB pic.twitter.com/c4FjpIdXkZ— Scott Pioli (@scottpioli51) October 18, 2022
His explanation for this was how Douglas is doing an excellent job with draft picks and developing those picks.
With Ozzie Newsome, a former NFL tight-end being a mentor for Douglas, he’s learned from the best.
What Newsome taught Douglas was to “know what you are looking for and you better know what you are looking at,” when drafting players.
It’s clearly working out for the Jets, as the GM has made plenty of trades since taking over to gain draft picks.
Two of the biggest trades under the leadership of Douglas was that of Sam Darnold and Leonard Williams.
These picks got the Jets plenty of draft picks to work with, helping them with getting the best players for their team.
The Jets now have a solid group of talent that are young and hungry for wins.
With those players, the Jets are currently 4-2 and shocking the NFL world.
