San Francisco 49ers News: DeMeco Ryans Crushed by Niners’ Bitter Super Bowl LVIII Loss
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers were supposed to be the slight favorites to win Super Bowl LVIII against the Kansas City Chiefs. They were stacked with talent in all areas of the game. Moreover, they have an offensive mastermind in Kyle Shanahan who can cook up incredible plays at the drop of a hat.

However, things ended in tragedy for the Niners as they allowed the Chiefs to complete an incredible comeback to win their third Super Bowl title in five years. What makes this loss even more bitter to swallow was the fact that they had plenty of opportunities to win the game, but erratic calls cost them the game.

Many of the Niners Faithful were heartbroken by the defeat, but the fans weren’t the only ones who were pained by the result.

One of the team’s former coaches, who is becoming one of the most exciting young head coaches in the NFL, also shared his distraught at the sight of the San Francisco 49ers losing another Super Bowl.

DeMeco Ryans was devastated after the San Francisco 49ers fumbled Super Bowl LVIII

Pro Football Talk wrote about the experience Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans experienced while watching the game.

The former linebacker, who cut his teeth with the San Francisco 49ers as Defensive Quality Control before snagging the Defensive Coordinator job, made it clear that he still feels connected to the team as he felt loneliness after his former team lost the chance to lift the Lombardi:

“I literally fell on the floor when [the Chiefs] scored that touchdown at the end of the game,” Ryans told Jennifer Lee Chan of NBCSportsBayArea.com. “I was in it. I felt, of course, like I was still there, a part of it.”

“I was sitting on the couch watching it and it was a heartbreaker,” Ryans said. “I literally fell on the floor and I was distraught. I felt like they played such a great game against the top quarterback in the league. And for them to do what they did, it was just unfortunate to see them lose that way.”

He then shared how he wanted to talk with Kyl Shanahan, his former head coach, and the rest of the players and coaching staff he played with to sympathize with them. He showed that the connection he felt for them was genuine.

While San Francisco 49ers fans don’t want to hear about Super Bowl LVIII that often, it is nice to know that one of their former coaches still feel connected to the franchise that first gave him the opportunity.
