Rich Bisaccia has had 'conversations' with Raiders owner Mark Davis about future

Rich Bisaccia began the 2021 NFL season as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator for the Las Vegas Raiders but was thrust into the role of interim head coach after Jon Gruden resigned in disgrace in October. Bisaccia guided the Raiders to seven victories in 12 games and to a playoff berth, but Las Vegas fell to the Cincinnati Bengals in Saturday's wild-card showdown.

The Raiders have been linked with current Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who has a relationship with owner Mark Davis and who previously worked for the organization. Bisaccia spoke with media members on Monday and said he's "had some conversations" with Davis about the future.

"There’s due process — he has to interview some other candidates, as I well know," Bisaccia added, per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "I’m very respectful of the process, what it’s supposed to look like and how it’s supposed to work. I think we’ll be in constant conversation and we’ll certainly talk again before the week is over."

Shortly after Saturday's defeat, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr referred to Bisaccia as "the right guy" to lead the team moving forward.

"I have never seen a coach with the ear to the locker room like he has," Carr explained.

It's currently unclear if either Bisaccia or Carr will be with the Raiders by the time training camps open, as Las Vegas could potentially look to upgrade at the signal-caller position via an offseason trade.
