Report: Saints To Hold Second Interview With Texans QB Coach Jerrod Johnson

NFL Insider Ian Rapoport reports that the New Orleans Saints have a second interview with Houston Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson for their vacant offensive coordinator position on Saturday. Johnson, who has had several interviews for offensive coordinator spots throughout the league, will meet with Saints officials in person, reports Rapoport. 

New Orleans terminated longtime offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael, WR coach Kodi Burns, and senior offensive assistant Bob Bicknell last week. Running Back coach Joel Thomas also departed to take the same position with the New York Giants. 

Jerrod Johnson just completed his first season as QB coach of the Texans. He and offensive coordinator Bobby Slowick helped oversee the tremendous development of rookie QB C.J. Stroud on the way to Houston's surprising 10-7 record and AFC South championship. 

Prior to joining the Texans, the 35-year-old Johnson spent 2022 as assistant quarterback coach for the Minnesota Vikings and two years as a quality control coach for the Indianapolis Colts. A college quarterback at Texas A&M, Johnson completed 58.6% of his passes for 8,011 yards with 67 touchdowns and 27 interceptions in 35 starts for the Aggies.
