Report: Lions, Texans to interview Louis Riddick for GM openings

The Detroit Lions have already interviewed three internal candidates for their open general manager position. We now know of an external candidate for the position.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson, the Lions are set to interview "Monday Night Football" analyst Louis Riddick for their open general manager position. The Houston Texans also plan to interview him. Riddick is meeting with the Texans on Wednesday and the Lions on Friday, per the report.

Houston has been without a general manager since October after firing Bill O'Brien. The Lions also are without a GM after firing Bob Quinn alongside Matt Patricia last month following a blowout loss to the Texans on Thanksgiving.

Riddick has been with ESPN since 2013 and made his "Monday Night Football" debut this season. Prior to broadcasting, the 51-year-old most recently spent time as director of pro personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2010-13, and as a pro scout for the team in 2008 and director of pro personnel in 2009. He was a pro scout for Washington from 2001-04 and the team's director of pro personnel from 2005-07.
