Ray Lewis tweets casting call for indie movie filming in Baltimore
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Soon-to-be Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis on Friday morning took to Twitter to post a casting call for an upcoming indie film that will in part be filmed in Baltimore, his former stomping grounds with the Ravens.

The call is for the upcoming film “Potential,” which is touted as a dramatic comedy.

As noted in Lewis’ tweet, the casting call is scheduled for June 24 and will be held at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, an iconic Baltimore eatery that cleverly integrates itself into the world of sports from time to time.

“He wanted a place synonymous with Baltimore,” Jimmy’s owner, John Minadakis, said. “We obliged, no problem.”

It’s unclear exactly what role Lewis will play in the production, although if it is in front of the camera it would mark his first foray into legitimate acting, as appearances in documentaries and commercials are Lewis’ sole experience in this arena.

Details on the film, per The Baltimore Sun:

“Potential,” an independent Baltimore-based film from director Jason Slawson, illustrates what happens when 20-something aspiring filmmakers and screenwriters try to wade through struggling dreams and dead-end jobs. Actress Kerry Cahill, who lists dozens of roles such as “The Walking Dead” and “Mudbound” in her filmography, stars.

The Baltimore Sun’s efforts to reach out to Lewis for comment were unsuccessful at the time the report was filed. The hope will be that those who attend the casting call will not be required to do Lewis’s famous “squirrel” dance in order to land a job as an extra.
