Ravens to be without DE Calais Campbell vs. Steelers

The Baltimore Ravens were already without the heart their offense, and now, they’ll have to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday without one of the key members of their defense.

According to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ravens defensive end Calais Campbell will not play in Week 16 after he was initially listed as questionable with a knee injury.

Campbell leads the Ravens in quarterback hits (11), and he ranks second in quarterback pressures (31), third in sacks (5), and fourth in quarterback hurries (14). He also has a $1M bonus coming his way if he reaches eight sacks this season.

Injured his knee in a Week 15 loss to the Cleveland Browns, Campbell sat out Baltimore’s Week 16 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Though he missed Wednesday and Thursday’s practices, he was a limited participant on Friday.

Campbell was key in Baltimore’s 16-14 win over the Steelers three weeks ago.

He totaled four tackles and blocked a field goal early in the fourth quarter that ultimately was the difference in the game.

With Campbell out of the lineup, things could open up for the Steelers run game, which averaged just 3.3 yards per carry in their last meeting. Campbell has 18 tackles in run defense and 11 run-stopping tackles this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
