Rams’ Sean McVay Makes Bold Statement On This Season
Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams have emerged as surprise playoff contenders after winning three straight games, and head coach Sean McVay is loving every second of it.

Just several weeks ago, the Rams were just 3-6 and looked dead in the water as far as a postseason berth was concerned, but since then, the club has gone on a roll, most recently hammering the Cleveland Browns by a score of 36-19 this past weekend.

When asked about it, McVay said this may be the most fun he has ever had as a coach.

“I think it is,” McVay said, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “I think a lot of the perspective that we’ve talked a little bit about is just never forgetting how important it is to try to be the person you want to be for the people that you love and care about. And also, be reminded, man, you love this game. You love the opportunity to work with people you care about and the competition of it.”

McVay made it clear that the recent winning streak is not the sole reason why he may be having the best time of his coaching career in 2023.

“And it’s not exclusive to just loving the wins, it’s loving everything that comes with it, responding to the challenges,” he said. “I know this, I am loving it because of the people that I’m around and then some of the perspective that the experience that you’re accumulating as a young guy has benefited both good and bad to keep learning and keep growing.”

McVay has been coaching the Rams since 2017. Throughout his tenure in Los Angeles, McVay has gone 66-44 and has led the team to three NFC West division titles. Most importantly, he has guided the club to a pair of Super Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl victory. The championship came during the 2021-22 campaign when the Rams topped the Cincinnati Bengals.

Los Angeles is now 6-6 and will aim to win its fourth straight contest when it heads on the road to battle the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday.

Sean McVay’s squad currently sits in eighth place in the NFC, just outside of the playoff picture.
