Raiders Sign Grasu to Practice Squad, Release Gurman
USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders made two roster transactions on Monday.

The club announced it has signed center Hroniss Grasu to the practice squad and, correspondingly, has released guard Vitaliy Gurman from the practice squad.

Grasu was released as part of the Raiders' initial 53-man roster finalization on Aug. 29.

The veteran center played last season with the Silver and Black, having made one start in four game appearances.

That start came in Week 14 against the New England Patriots, his first game of the 2022 campaign.

Grasu was signed by the Raiders in October of 2021. That January, he would be signed to a reserved/future contract.

Prior to Las Vegas, Grasu had played the 2020 season with current Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers.

He made three starts in nine appearances that year.

The two seasons before San Francisco, Grasu was a member of the Baltimore Ravens, with whom he totaled one start in four games. Each season was a different stint for the team, however, as Grasu spent short periods of time with the Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans in between.

A four-year starter out of the University of Oregon, Grasu was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He started in all eight games he played his rookie season before making four starts in six games the following year.

Gurman was waived on Aug. 27 as part of the first wave of end-of-training-camp roster cuts before he was signed to the practice squad on Friday.

A prospect out of the University of Toledo, Gurman was signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May of 2022.

He would be waived by Kansas City at the end of 2022 training camp before he was signed to the Raiders' practice squad.

Gurman played two seasons at Toledo, where he made 13 starts for the Mid-American Conference's top scoring offense in his final season.

Grasu played a total of 141 offensive snaps in this year's preseason, while Gurman played 33.

The Silver and Black open the regular season at the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:25 p.m. EDT/1:25 p.m. PDT.
