HENDERSON, Nev.--The Las Vegas Raiders' new General Manager didn't just show up in Las Vegas, having never been around.

He brings decades of experience, and we have often reminded you that he learned from an NFL Icon, which many believe, including this reporter, belongs on the Mount Rushmore of NFL General Manager the great Bill Polian.

Telesco spoke about his influence and how he patterns his leadership style after the iconic figure.

Appearing on the Sunset Rewind, Telesco said, “I was so lucky, probably 18 years with Bill Polian, who is a Hall of Fame general manager. Just by osmosis, you are there and kind of learn day-to-day. He used to always say, ‘This is not a football business; this is a people business,’ and it really is.”

Telesco elaborated by adding, “Our players, I know that they play football for a living, but they are people; they have lived off of the field. Our staff, our coaches, support staff, you have to create and environment where everyone wants to work hard. Everyone is invested in the goal, and everyone has their own role, and whatever that role is, every role is important.”

The Raiders' new GM then said about what he learned from the legendary Polian, “Just watching how he worked with everybody, it’s a big group of people. Managing a lot of personalities, the GM usually has to have the smallest ego in the room, they kind of steer the discussions. You’re talking about a coaching staff of 20+ people, your looking roster-wise, probably during the season of north of seventy players, (and) all the support staff that goes along with that. That is a lot of people to manage. That is why you’re a general manager, I genuinely manage a lot of things.”

From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
