Post-waiver wire fantasy football pickups for Week 7

Not sure how to fill your fantasy roster with six teams on a bye? On the (Kareem) Hunt for a quality player after the waiver period? We’ve got just the guys for you.

QB: Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

With a juicy matchup against the Giants, Commanders QB Sam Howell probably isn’t available in your league. So why not try Mayfield? Believe it or not, Tom Brady’s replacement is averaging more fantasy points per game (15.44) than quarterbacks like Trevor Lawrence, Dak Prescott and Matthew Stafford.

Mayfield suffered a bruised hand against the Lions last week but says he’s good to go against the Falcons, who gave up 296 passing yards and three scores to Howell in Week 6. With a passer rating of 91.3, Mayfield is playing some of the best football of his career. He’ll never be a top-10 quarterback, but fantasy managers could do worse this week.

Mayfield is available in 72% of Yahoo leagues.

RB: Kareem Hunt (Cleveland Browns)

Hunt came off the bench to post a 12-47-1 line against San Francisco with three catches for 24 yards in Week 6. His 12 carries were a season-high, more than doubling what he’s seen since joining the team in Week 3.

Years ago, those would’ve been modest numbers for Hunt. These days, they’re not bad for Cleveland’s No. 2 running back. Jerome Ford remains the starter, but Hunt’s uptick in carries is cause for optimism.

The Colts give up 113.5 rush yards per game and the 10th-most fantasy points per game (23.33) to opposing running backs.

Hunt is available in 39% of Yahoo leagues.

WR: Kendrick Bourne (New England Patriots)

Does anyone think Buffalo won’t run up the score against New England after struggling to put up 14 points against the Giants? That means plenty of passes from Mac Jones, Malik Cunningham or whomever coach Belichick decides to throw out there.

Bourne turned a season-high 11 targets into 89 yards and 19.3 fantasy points against the Raiders, eight more than any Patriots player and 10th-most among NFL receivers last week.

Bourne is available in 80% of Yahoo leagues.

TE: Trey McBride (Arizona Cardinals)

Arizona used a second-round pick to get McBride in the 2022 NFL Draft, but until last week veteran Zach Ertz received more targets. McBride had four catches for 62 yards against the Rams on Sunday while Ertz finished with two catches for 22 yards.

More importantly, McBride played 44 snaps to Ertz’s 35 and had his first double-digit fantasy day of the season. With the Cardinals rebuilding, it makes sense to give their young tight end more looks. This week, he’ll face an underwhelming Seahawks defense giving up the fifth-most passing yards per game and fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

McBride is available in 99% of Yahoo leagues.

DST: Las Vegas Raiders

With Bears quarterback Justin Fields unlikely to play with a dislocated thumb, undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent should make his first NFL start against the Raiders this week. Las Vegas had four sacks and an interception while holding the Patriots to 17 points last week and should do even better against Bagent.

The Raiders defense is available in 46% of Yahoo leagues.

K: Brandon McManus (Jacksonville Jaguars)

McManus has the seventh-most fantasy points of any kicker and scored a season-high 17 fantasy points against the Colts last week thanks to kicks of 48, 49 and 51 yards. The veteran kicker is averaging 10 fantasy points per game and should be busy against an underrated Saints defense.

McManus is available in 61% of Yahoo leagues.
