Pittsburgh Steelers Meeting With Notable Offensive Coordinator Candidate
Rob Schumacher/The Republic / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a new offensive coordinator. This comes after firing Matt Canada in the middle of the 2023 NFL season. Now, there appears to be a very notable candidate who could replace Canada.

Pittsburgh Steelers Reportedly Meeting With Kliff Kingsbury

An NBC source revealed that the Pittsburgh Steelers are likely going to meet with Kliff Kingsbury. Pittsburgh is expected to discuss their open offensive coordinator position with him. Kingsbury is currently the quarterbacks coach for the USC Trojans.

However, he does have notable experience in the NFL. Kingsbury was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for four seasons. When he was fired from the Cardinals, Kingsbury originally retreated to Thailand and rumors swirled that Kingsbury may retire from coaching football. However, after several months, he eventually returned to the United States and joined the USC coaching staff.

Other Kliff Kingsbury Rumors

This is not the first time that Kingsbury’s name has been in the mix for an offensive coordinator job this offseason. Last week, there were rumors he was interviewing for the Chicago Bears‘ open position. That started a discussion as to whether USC QB Caleb Williams was a lock for the top overall draft pick.

However, it was eventually revealed that the Bears were going to hire former Seattle Seahawks OC Shane Waldron. As a result, it opens up the door for Kingsbury to pursue other opportunities. Considering the Steelers’ offensive performance this past season, Kingsbury would certainly be looked at as a step in the right direction.
