Kareem Elgazzar / USA TODAY NETWORK

Pickett has been clearly frustrated about his situation with Pittsburgh since they misled him about their intentions to bring in Russell Wilson as their QB1.

The Pittsburgh Steelers preferred Russell Wilson

Pickett was under the impression the Steelers would allow him to compete with Wilson for the starting job. However, head coach Mike Tomlin told Pickett Wilson would get first-team reps this spring. Pickett asked for a trade, and the Steelers flipped the former first-round pick to the Eagles.

Pickett took to Instagram to say goodbye to Pittsburgh. He didn’t even mention the Steelers by name as he reminisced about his time in the city with the Pittsburgh Panthers and Steelers. Per a screenshot on X by Brooke Pryor:

“Thank you, Pittsburgh! I came to this city 7 years ago and my life changed forever. Grateful for all of the amazing people I was fortunate enough to cross paths with, and for all of those who supported me along the way.

I made life-long friendships and relationships that I will always cherish. Now, I am honored and excited for the next opportunity in my career – being able to play for the team that helped me find my love for the game as a kid. Go Birds!!”
