Patriots reportedly sign OT Conor McDermott to practice squad
USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots have brought back a familiar face.

MassLive's Mark Daniels reports that the Patriots have signed offensive tackle Conor McDermott to the practice squad.

A new No. 75 was spotted at Patriots practice on Tuesday, with many speculating that it was McDermott. And the Boston Herald's Doug Kyed further reported that McDermott was in the building that morning.

The Patriots had an open spot on the practice squad after signing QB/WR Malik Cunningham to the active roster.

McDermott began his career with the Patriots in 2017, being drafted in the sixth round. He was waived prior to the season, and was picked up by the Bills. He spent two seasons with Buffalo before being claimed by the New York Jets in 2019. In Nov. 2022, the Patriots brought him back off the Jets practice squad.

Across his six years, McDermott has played in 49 games, and even has one career touchdown which he got during his time with the Jets after catching a pass from Zach Wilson

The offensive line has been a sore spot for the Patriots in recent weeks, with injuries forcing numerous different players to substitute in. So maybe McDermott will prove to be what the team needs to fix some of those issues going forward.
