Patriots' Lawrence Guy provides update on J.C. Jackson's status
USA TODAY Sports

J.C. Jackson wasted no time.

After being traded to the New England Patriots on Wednesday, the cornerback was already at the facility on Thursday to join the team and start practicing.

And he showed up in style according to Lawrence Guy

"It's good. He's back here," Guy told reporters on Thursday. "We know he's going to bring a lot to the team and it's good to see a familiar face in the locker room."

And if there was any worry about Jackson needing time to get acclimated, Guy put an end to all of that.

"We know he knows the system, so he's going to be able to come back in at full speed," Guy said.

Jackson was acquired by the Patriots from the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday in return for a late round pick.

The team was in need of additional depth at cornerback with many players injured including star rookie Christian Gonzalez. This could also mean Gonzalez might be out for a while.

This is his second stint with the Patriots, having began his career as an undrafted free agent with New England in 2018.

He won a Super Bowl with New England in 2018 and was named to the second-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl in his final year with the Patriots.

Following the 2021 season, Jackson went to Chargers, signing a massive $82.5 million contract for five years.

So with that, it's clear that the Patriots got the better end of the deal after they worked with the Chargers to rework Jackson's remaining $9.33 million for the 2023 season. New England will only cover $1.5 million of it, while Los Angeles is responsible for the rest.

In his six year in the league, Jackson has 176 tackles, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and 26 interceptions across 69 games played.

With him in the building, the next question is will he be at practice?
