Florida State University is ticked off about Sunday’s selection show with the College Football Playoff Committee.
The Seminoles captured an Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and finished its season undefeated; however, Alabama football was chosen over FSU for the four-team playoff. Micahel Alford, the athletics director for Florida State, ripped the CFP Committee for robbing the Seminoles of a playoff spot. Patrick Surtain, a former NFL player, is a defensive backs coach for the Seminoles. He took to Twitter and said it is ‘mind-boggling’ how the committee would leave out an undefeated conference champion. Surtain, the father of former Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II, questions who in the top four is better than FSU.
Mind boggling…Still at a loss for words. Unfortunately the “committee” can’t measure heart. And even more that, top to bottom…which one of those 4 teams are more talented than US? I just don’t get it!!

In Alabama’s defense, it went undefeated in conference action too. The Tide’s blemish came early in the season versus Texas in week two at a time when Alabama was trying to figure things out. The committee took Alabama’s progression as a team into account and its victory over a team that had not lost in 29 games (Georgia) was the perfect piece to put it in the playoff field.
Florida State will sting with this for a while, but the committee felt it would rather play FSU right now than Alabama.
The Crimson Tide faces Michigan in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day.
