Packers get Jordan Love six new weapons in 2023 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers are going to give Jordan Love every opportunity to succeed, and if he does, their 2023 NFL Draft class is going to be a huge reason why.

Sure, the Packers didn't draft a wideout in the first round despite Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Quentin Johnston staring them in the face. If Iowa defensive end and Green Bay's No. 13 overall pick, Lukas Van Ness, becomes a star pass rusher—and he has the potential to do so—nobody will care.

Still, Green Bay undoubtedly had massive needs on the offensive side of the ball to deal with in the draft, especially now that Aaron Rodgers is in New York and unable to make chicken salad out of chicken (you know what) in Green Bay. 

What the Packers did do was address the offense from round two on.

No, not every pick was an offensive weapon, but Love will have two young, athletic and exciting tight ends to grow with as well as three new wide receivers to break in. Throw in a new running back (Central Michigan's Lew Nichols) in a room already featuring perhaps one of the best tandems in the NFL in Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon and it stands to reason that Green Bay's offense can at the very least be interesting in 2023.

Depending on the development of Love, it could even be dangerous.

At 6-foot-6, 253 pounds, tight end Luke Musgrave from Oregon State was an inspired pick by general manager Brian Gutekunst at No. 42. Following that pick up with Michigan State wideout Jayden Reed (who is dangerous in open space and could also impact the Packers as a punt returner) and South Dakota State tight end Tucker Kraft at picks 50 and 78 respectively could end up being a game-changer for Love's development in 2023 and beyond. Both are great athletes, though Kraft can also be a true in-line tight end.

Gutekunst then added Virginia wideout Dontayvion Wicks and Charlotte wide receiver Grant DuBose on day three. At the very least, there's now depth in a wide receiver room that should feature second-year players Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs as the likely stars moving forward.

Watson caught 41 catches for 611 yards and seven touchdowns as a rookie and profiles as a potential superstar. Doubs snagged 42 catches for 425 yards and three touchdowns but looked great when not injured.

"We've just got to find out what works best," head coach Matt LaFleur told the team website regarding getting all of his young weapons into production. "Certainly, having a lot of youth is exciting because you really don't know until you get these guys in here and start to work with them. I do think we've got some talented players to work with and we'll see what they can handle."
