Noah Fant: Seahawks offense 'very favorable to the tight end'

Tight end Noah Fant unexpectedly began the next chapter of his NFL career in March when he was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Seattle Seahawks as part of the blockbuster deal that involved one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson relocating from Seattle to Denver.

By all accounts, Fant doesn't yet know if former Denver teammate and current Seattle signal-caller Drew Lock or veteran backup Geno Smith will be throwing passes his way in Week 1 this September. The 24-year-old didn't seem to have a preference when he noted players at his position can thrive with the Seahawks.

"Honestly, I like — now, granted, this is from just like a month coming in — but I like the way they use the tight ends," Fant explained, per Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune (h/t Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk). "I like the way we get passing concepts down the field. The run game, obviously it’s going to be all built off the run game, which is a huge part of the game. Obviously, the play-action is going to be huge. So it’s a very balanced offense, which I like. And it’s very favorable to the tight end. So it’s nice."

The Seahawks took some pressure off Fant when they picked up the fifth-year option attached to his rookie contract in April. Fant ended the 2021 season with 68 receptions for 670 yards and four touchdowns, and he could be due a significant pay raise, considering the current market, if he enjoys an even better campaign with Seattle this fall.
