NFL insider Charles Robinson believes two more former Packers will sign with Jets

Aaron Rodgers has committed to playing for the New York Jets in 2023. All that’s left is for the Green Bay Packers to work out a trade for the four-time MVP and future Hall of Famer. While the two sides negotiated, the Jets signed former Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard to a four-year $44 million deal. New York is also reportedly in talks with Odell Beckham Jr., a player that Rodgers is rumored to have placed on a list of individuals he would like to play with in New York. One NFL insider, however, does not think the Jets are done bringing in “Rodgers’ guys.”

NFL Insider Believes Randall Cobb and Marcedes Lewis Will Sign with New York

NFL Insider Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports said the following during an appearance on the You Pod to Win the Game podcast:

“I’d be surprised if they didn’t add either Randall Cobb or Marcedes Lewis or both by the time this is all said and done.”

Both Cobb and Lewis are unrestricted free agents. So far, there has been no reports of meetings between the two players and other teams.

Will Randall Cobb and/or Marcedes Lewis Join Aaron Rodgers in New York?

Of the two players, Lewis makes the most sense for the New York Jets. With Lazard joining a talented wide receiver room that includes Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson and may soon include OBJ, it may be hard for the Jets to justify signing another veteran wide receiver. Lewis, on the other hand, is a great blocking tight end that does not command many targets in the passing game.

Many of these reports about the Jets adding players like OBJ, Cobb, and Lewis are published under the premise that the Jets are continuing their attempt to lure Rodgers to New York. The problem with this presentation is that they do not need to do that anymore. Rodgers has already committed to playing for the Jets, as he stated on The Pat McAfee Show. The Jets don’t need to sign either of these two guys to convince Rodgers to want to play for them. He already does.

That being said, Cobb and Lewis are both great veteran leaders who can impact the team in multiple ways on and off the field. They would be good signing by any team for that reason alone.
