NFL analyst suggests Cowboys pursue former Pro Bowl cornerback
Jenna Watson/IndyStar / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Dallas Cowboys don’t have much money to spend this offseason, so they will have to choose how they allocate their resources wisely.

ESPN’s Aaron Schatz thinks that the Cowboys should pursue some help at cornerback and names Indianapolis Colts corner Kenny Moore as a potential target.

Schatz supports his statement by saying that Dallas will likely lose Stephon Gilmore and Jourdan Lewis in free agency, which will leave a bit of a hole behind Trevon Diggs—who is returning from a torn ACL—and DaRon Bland at the position.

He says that Moore could slide into the role of slot cornerback for the Cowboys, which would give Dallas a rather impressive trio of Diggs, Bland and Moore on the field.

Moore, who played his collegiate football at Valdosta State, went undrafted but ultimately landed with the Colts in 2017.

By his second season, he was a full-time starter in Indianapolis’ secondary, registering 63 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, a forced fumble and 11 passes defended.

After a few more solid campaigns, Moore made the Pro Bowl in 2021 after racking up 102 tackles, a sack, four picks, a forced fumble and 13 passes defended.

This past year, the 28-year-old played in 16 games and finished with 93 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, six passes defended and a couple of defensive touchdowns. Both of those scores came in the same game.

Moore would bring terrific depth to the Cowboys’ defensive backfield and would give them arguably the best triumvirate of cornerbacks in football.

Dallas won 12 games and captured the NFC East division title this past season but ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

The Cowboys have not made it to the NFC Championship Game since January 1996.
