NFL Analyst Believes Packers Can Get Back In Playoff Contention

The Green Bay Packers are just 3-5, so most people have written them off in terms of contending for a playoff spot this season.

However, Kay Adams of the Up & Adams Show thinks that the Packers still have a shot now that running back Aaron Jones is healthy.

“People forget that even when Aaron Rodgers was out there winning those MVPs it wasn’t all [offensive coordinator Nathaniel] Hackett that was the reason guys.” Adams said. “Aaron Jones was a key part in making that offense go. And the Packers are not dead yet. They are 3-5, the NFC, don’t tell me [it’s] not shaky on the back end. And if they beat the Steelers they’ll be right in the mix for a playoff spot.”

Green Bay got back on track last weekend by beating the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 20-3. Jones carried the ball a season-high 20 times for 73 yards and a touchdown while also logging four catches for 26 yards. It was clear that Jones’ increase in activity made a colossal difference for a Packers offense that has struggled in recent weeks, so perhaps Adams is on to something.

Still, at the same time, it just seems hard to imagine Green Bay truly making a playoff push.

It’s important to keep in mind that the Packers beat a Rams team that was employing Brett Rypien at quarterback with Matthew Stafford injured, so it’s not like they topped a good ballclub. Plus, they were playing at home, so they should have won that game.

Green Bay also has a very rough patch coming up on its schedule, as it will play Pittsburgh, the Los Angeles Chargers, the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs over the next four weeks.

Not only that, but quarterback Jordan Love is going to have be considerably better for the remainder of the season.

The Packers may have looked a whole lot fresher in Week 9, but they are certainly facing an uphill battle if they want to make it to the postseason.
