New Orleans Saints sign Shane Lemieux and Justin Herron to bolster OL depth after draft

The New Orleans Saints used their first-round pick on a new offensive tackle. Now, they are adding via free agency. On Monday afternoon, they reportedly made two OL additions via the veteran pool.

The Saints signed OL Shane Lemieux and Justin Herron, according to Nick Underhill.

Lemieux is a guard. Herron has played OT during his NFL career. Lemieux and Herron have combined for 43 game appearances and 23 starts as pros.

New Orleans needs all the depth it can get at both spots. James Hurst retired, and there has been no rekindling with Andrus Peat to bring him back. They may be waiting on a Ryan Ramczyk health update to see if he will play this season, but that remains unknown for now.

Lemieux is a former All-American during his time at Oregon. He was drafted in 2020 by the New York Giants, starting nine games for NY that year. Since then, he has dealt with some significant injuries, so his play has been limited.

The Saints hope that he can stay healthy and give them a potential starter at guard in 2024.
