Mike Vrabel reportedly interested in one other potential head coach job

Mike Vrabel is facing an uncertain future with the Tennessee Titans following a disappointing season, and there is one other job that the veteran head coach might have his eye on.

According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Vrabel would have interest in becoming the coach of the New England Patriots should his former team part ways with Bill Belichick.

The Titans finished 6-11 after their upset win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. They missed the postseason last year as well. Vrabel signed an extension with Tennessee Prior to last season.

One NFL insider who used to work in the Patriots’ front office said this week that Vrabel is not thrilled with the situation in Tennessee and may want out. It is possible that Vrabel is waiting to see what happens with Belichick and the Patriots before making a final decision about his own future.

Vrabel played linebacker for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008. He was a core member of the first three Super Bowl-winning teams of the Belichick era. A report during the season claimed Vrabel would be Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s dream candidate if the Patriots move on from Belichick.

There is no guarantee that Belichick will leave New England, however. The 71-year-old coach told reporters on Monday that he remains under contract and expects to have several meetings with Kraft. Belichick also hinted that he may be open to one major change if he returns to the Patriots.
