Mike McDaniel sounds cautious note on Tyreek Hill injury
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel did not exactly sound optimistic that wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be ready to go this weekend after the ankle injury he suffered on Monday.

McDaniel on Thursday told reporters that the Dolphins’ primary goal was to ensure that Hill is not at risk of reinjury when they put him on the field again, suggesting that the team might hold him back for his own good.

“He’s such an important part of our team that we’re going to make sure that when he’s on the field, he’s not at risk of further injury to himself,” McDaniel said of Hill.

McDaniel has reason to worry about this. Hill managed to get back on the field Monday, whether he should have or not. The long-term health of his ankle is hugely important to Miami’s playoff hopes and the Dolphins cannot afford any sort of reinjury.

Hill has been the NFL’s best wide receiver this year statistically, leading the league with 1,542 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
