Matthew Slater reveals which Patriots teammate sucked up to Tom Brady the most
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots locker room had a lot of new faces throughout the 20 years that Tom Brady led the team. However, there were a few that left a lasting impression and became close with the quarterback.

So out of all those guys throughout the years, Matthew Slater was asked which Patriots teammate sucked up to Brady the most.

He didn't even hesitate with his answer.

“That one is easy. That’s Julian (Edelman) all the way," Slater said with a laugh when appearing on the Green Light Podcast with Chris Long. "He followed him around like a little puppy dog early in his career. And then would do whatever he could to endear himself to Tom.

“He was so hyper focused on what does Tom have going on."

Brady and Edelman's friendship went beyond the field. However, it wasn't always like that.

Back in September before Brady returned to Gillette Stadium for the season opener, Slater recalled another funny interaction between Edelman and the Patriots quarterback.

“Initially Julian couldn’t even speak to Tom. Like don’t even look at him," Slater recalled. "Once Julian was JE11, then they started that banter and it was fantastic. We all loved it.”

So as Slater said, it was "like big brother, little brother" relationship.

But Brady wasn't the only player that was able to get a rise out of Edelman. Apparently Danny Amendola was good at that too.

And the two receivers would argue over who was Batman and who was Robin.

"I would just like to settle that debate once and for all times sake, Slater said on the podcast. "Dola’s clearly Batman. Better looking, smoother… better jawline. It’s not even close.

“If you had to pick one of those two, it’s definitely Dola.”

Let's see if Edelman has a response to this one.
