Mark Glowinski Quietly Having Solid Showing Since Benching
USA TODAY Sports

As has been the case with most of the New York Giants offensive linemen, guard Mark Glowinski has had a season that he'd probably like to forget.

Glowisnki, according to Pro Football Focus, played one of the worst games in his career, allowing nine pressures in the Giants' Week 1 blowout loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

He struggled so badly that Glowinski was benched the following week for Marcus McKethan, a second-year player who had missed his entire rookie campaign and a good chunk of the 2023 off-season and training camp while working his way back from a torn ACL.

Glowisnki, however, kept his head up and stayed committed to getting better. He was more than up for the task when injuries began to thin out the Giants' offensive line depth, necessitating his return to the starting lineup.

Per PFF, Glowinski, in 79 pass-blocking snaps over his last two games (both starts), has allowed just one pressure and zero sacks.

Head coach Brian Daboll has praised Glowinski for how he's handled the demotion from the starting lineup and did so again this week when he was asked about the veteran's play.

"He's done a good job of bouncing back and making the most of his opportunities, and I’m looking forward to him continuing to do that," Daboll said.

Glowinski is in Year 2 of a three-year, $18.3 million with the Giants. This season marks the last of the contract in which he has guaranteed money, making him a potential salary cap casualty after this season. If the Giants do move on from his contract, they would save $5.7 million.
